Hey, you all, I've finally done it! I've set up my utterly barebones website for lyrics here. Please enjoy, and there will be new Kokia lyrics and other lyrics and updates all the time, hopefully!

you call this bacon!?
This song enraptured me when I first heard it almost 8 years ago, and I played it over and over, not having a clue what it meant. Now that I can parse the phrases, it has absolutely blown me away. I got goosebumps translating it. It's not necessarily an original metaphor, but the way she puts things is so beautiful and heart-wrenching, I could never truly do it justice. If you want to really understand what this song is saying, I think you need to read the original. But I tried, so, enjoy all the little poetic moments at your leisure.

you call this bacon!?
Phew! Another ridiculously and unapologetically long hiatus! Sorry, dudes and dudettes, sometimes life gets in the way of translating. Plus, every time I'd sit down to work on this bugger, I'd get stuck on something and just give up for the day without saving my work (I am a prime example of what NOT to do). This is a cute song from songbird, "I catch a cold," about what seems to be a pretty sucky day for KOKIA.

you call this bacon!?
Long time no see, eh? Sorry, I was studying for the JLPT, and got caught up, but I'm back! Just in time for the holiday season (and did you see KOKIA has a Christmas album out now? That Christmas medley is SO LONG!).

This is the second track from songbird, released in 1999. What a sweet song. Enjoy!

ON NOTICE
This is the very first Kokia song I ever heard. It's so sweet and pretty, and sounds just like the songbird she describes. So simply moving. From Kokia's first album, "songbird," released on 07/16/1999, here's...

you call this bacon!?
From the B-Side of Arigatou... (This is a B-Side!? :)  another wistful anthem to lost love from Kokia. I feel you, sister.

This may be one of Kokia's most beloved songs. She's done quite a few versions of it, and it always plays big at her concerts. This was her first hit, from the single of the same name on 06/17/1999, here's...

you call this bacon!?

KOKIA's new mini-album, Fairy Dance ~Kokia Meets Ireland~ is out! I'm so excited. What could be better than KOKIA + Celtic Rhythms?

Here's the next song in chronological order, the B Side to Tears in Love, Blue Night. It's a very gentle, mystical, earthy song. Something about her songs just makes them so much better once you know what she's saying, don't you think?

As usual, lyrics translated by me, please don't spread without credit.

ON NOTICE

This is definitely one of my favorite Kokia songs. It's simple and bittersweet and showcases her unpretentious talent perfectly. She doesn't feel the need to belt out stinging vibrato and ridiculous high notes, which is something I really love about her songs. She just has a really pure, beautiful, nostalgic sound. From the "Tears in Love" single released on 11/18/1998, here's Tears in Love:

From "Brain Power'd," the anime, this was released on a short disc in 1998 called "Ai no Rinkaku," the title of this song. This is one of the first Kokia songs I ever heard, and it's incredibly beautiful and haunting. It's definitely one of the songs that used to get the most hits on Napster/Audiogalaxy/Kazaa back in the day, so if you don't have it, I'd be incredibly surprised. As always, please don't use lyrics/translations without permission and spread Kokia love!
